DEMOLITION DERBY RULES
Open to any 1980 or newer automobile or station wagon.

Driver Rules: All work must be done before entering the pits!

1. Only drivers and pit persons who sign a release form will be permitted in pit area.

2. Ay driver/pit crew not obeying the rules will be disqualified. The driver is responsible for the actions of his/her pit crew in all respects. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.

3. Driver must wear long sleeve shirt, long pants and shoes. Safety belts and helmet with chin strap and eye protection are required. FULL FACE GOOGLES ARE RECOMMENDED.

4. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL ON GROUNDS. Anyone under the influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs prior to or during the race disqualifies the car and crew of the offending party.

5. NO HOT RODDING in pit area. No passengers riding on vehicles.

6. THERE WILL BE NO BUDDY SYSTEM OR SANDBAGGING. HITS MUST BE AGGRESSIVE. No two way radio communication of any kind will be allowed.

7. All cars must be removed from the premises the day of the event.

8. I-96 Speedway LLC will not be held responsible for personal property at any time.

9. Any any time during the event, if any official rules a car unsafe it will be disqualified.

10. If a vehicle is found illegal there will be no refund of the entry fee or pit passes.

11 Drivers must attend a driver meeting held approx. ½ hour before race time.

12. All injuries must be report before you leave the race track property.

13. All glass must be removed. A bar, chain or leaf spring must be place in the middle of the windshield between the roof and the cowl. All door handles must be removed as well.

14. Stock fuel tanks must be removed and auxiliary tank must be securely fastened behind the front seat and in front of the rear axle. Tanks must be of steel construction. (MAXIMUM OF 5 GALLONS).

15. Any leakage of fuel will lead to immediate disqualification.

16. FIRE SHIELD MUST BE PLACED BETWEEN DRIVER AND TANK. ALL FUEL FITTINGS NEED TO BE SAFE AND SECURE (NO EXCEPTIONS).

17. Exhaust pipes must exit straight up or straight down. NO tall pipes.

18. For drivers safety one piece of pipe or square tubing ma be placed behind the front seat from door post to door post. Full halo cage, no attaching to frame.

19. NO double or liquid filled tires allowed. DOT approved 15”  6-ply maximum, air only, tubes okay. No split rims, Wheel weights must be removed. No valve stem protectors.

20. Trunk lid and hood must be chained closed with a chain or wire in 4 different places on hood and 2 places from hood to bumper – 6 maximum. Must have home in trunk lid for inspection.

21. Cutting fenders and bumpers is permissible; radiator must be in stock position. No anti-freeze.

22. Batteries must be securely fastened. Must be covered by shield if in driver’s compartment.

23. All chrome stripping must be removed. Drivers door must be white, door must be padded.

24. No blocked shocks, suspension must move freely (spring helpers-ok). Cars must have brakes.

25. There must be a 12” opening in the hood. Engine mounts chained or welded.

27. Bumpers – front and back – weld, chain and wire them. You may use any stock auto bumpers. You may weld length of GM shock tube.

28. On a fresh car, sitting on level ground, 26” maximum height from top of front bumper to ground.

29. Doors may only be welded solid, outside seams only. If you are not welding, you must securely fasten all other doors by straps, chain or wire. You may reinforce driver’s door with plate, pipe or angle iron – not to exceed 3” past each end of the door.

30. Absolutely no welding on frame or frame seams except from A-arm forward.

31. Welding or chaining any part of the body to the frame is not permitted.

32. We will allow you to pre-bend the frame by notching or heating the frame. We will allow you to weld the frame where you notched it, if you excessively over weld this area or put anything in the frame rail, we will have you cut it out. Call the track with any questions about this. If doing this on a fresh car maximum bumper height from top of bumper to level ground cannot exceed 31”

33. Body mounts bolts may be replaced but must be same diameter as stock. Body mount rubbers may be removed. 3” washer maximum. Bolts may go through body sheet metal. In rear only one thickness of frame. You may add one additional body mount bolt to each side of rear frame rail.

34. Hood must stay on car at all times.

35. Electric fans or clutch fans ONLY,

36. Firewalls to have all holes covered with a non-flammable material. Ou may have a floor shifter and distributor protectors. Stock automotive drive shafts only.

37. Transmission coolers must be in engine compartment.

38. No fresh paint or undercoating on any frame.  Any 5 bolt rear end may be used, but you must have stock angle and pitch.

39. We will allow you to fix rust home on from of Ford frames. You can only use the following: 2” x 2” x 7/16” thick x 2’ long angle iron – no more, no less. Do not add this to a rust free frame.

40. There rules are subject to change without notice. THE DECISION OF THE OFFICIALS WILL BE FINAL.
