6th Annual Dirt Gold Cup / 2013 Season Championships Set For Saturday, August 24th
The 2013 Track Championships will be decided on Saturday, August 24th as the 6th annual Dirt Gold Cup closes out the 2013 racing season for the cars at I-96 Speedway with 2013 Season Championships.
The Carbon Bio Energy UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, Rudd’s Septic Service UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks and Smyrna Bar & Restaurant UMP DIRTcar Sport Compacts will crown their 2013 Track Champions and Rookies of the Year throughout the gala evening. Also racing will be; MOTOCROSS OPEN 16YR AND UP & 60-85CC CLASS.
In the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds it all comes down to 2011 Track Champion, Jacob Poel and Travis Stemler who will decide who will wear the 2013 crown as the Spring Lake, Michigan standout will carry a 25-point lead over Stemler and needs to finish sixth or better and he will win his second career I-96 Speedway Track Championship even if Stemler wins the Feature.
For the UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks, it’s a three-horse race between Defending Track Champion, Josh Frye and veterans Dan Dykman and Derek Poland. In order for Frye to repeat as Track Champion, he has to finish seventh or better in the Feature and the Coopersville, Michigan driver will Repeat as Track Champion no matter what Dykman and Poland do.
Finally in the UMP DIRTcar Sport Compacts, Nick Jenema, the 2012 18 & Over Rookie of the Year, is looking at winning the Overall Title in his second season of racing as is well on his way as Jenema merely needs to start the Season Championship Feature and his first Career Track Championship is his.
