“Strevel Joins the I-96 Speedway Team”

I-96 Speedway is excited to announce that Mike Strevel is returning to the track. Strevel brings his many years of short track experience back to the track, and will put that knowledge to work in the sales and marketing area while assisting with the operations of the facility.

“I am very excited to be joining the I-96 team,” stated Strevel. “The seven years I spent here are some of the most memorable of my extensive motor sports career. The incredible improvements to this fine facility since I worked here in the Mid-nineties have me really pumped up to get to work on the 2010 season. I look forward to helping Mike and the staff, I am sure I have a lot to learn and hopefully I can bring some fresh ideas and energy to the table. I also hope to lend a hand to fine I-96 announcer Den Vogel from time to time; I still love to chat with the fans."

Mike Mouch, track owner is also excited with Strevel’s return. “Strevel brings a lot of experience back to I-96 speedway. I look forward to working with him and I think we will make a good team. I know I can learn a lot from Mike with his well rounded back ground in racing”.

Speaking to the day to day operations of the track, Mouch said “Having Mike on board helps to take a lot of weight off of my shoulders. It frees me up to put my energy into other areas of the track”. “

Strevel brings an impressive list of qualifications with him to I-96. From 1988-2002 he was involved with various motor sports related radio programs; these stations included WYGR, WLAV-FM & WBBL, all in the Grand Rapids listening area.

 From 1993-1999, he announced the races and was the PR Director at I-96.

During the 2000-2003 race seasons, he was the Auto Value Super Sprints Co-General Manager and Announcer.

And recently from 2004- 2009, he held the title, Director of Race Operations at Berlin Raceway Marne, MI.

A couple of nice awards Strevel has won include the 2006 and 2007 Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores Race Track of the Year. And The 2006 Michigan Speedway Promoters Association Paved Race Track Promoter of the Year.

“I cannot wait to get the season under way, it is great to get back into the dirt racing scene in Michigan. I-96 has some big special events planned, and I am looking forward to helping I-96 speedway as the track continues to provide some of the best racing around”

The 2010 season starts on Saturday night April 24th with racing scheduled every Saturday throughout the summer.
