AMA Pro Rider Henry Wiles Sweeps Both Days Of AMA District 14 Flat Track Motorcycles Weekend
Lake Odessa, Michigan (Saturday, June 9th, 2012): It was AMA District 14 Flat Track Motorcycles Weekend at I-96 Speedway on Friday & Saturday, June 8-9th as the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) District 14 Flat Track Motorcycles called Lake Odessa, Michigan home for the weekend and completed two thrilling nights of two-wheeled racing around the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked dirt oval.
AMA District 14 is a non-profit organization based in Midland, Michigan that promotes all aspects of motorcycling including Flat Track Racing as well as Motocross, Hare Scrambles, Enduros, Ice Races, Hill Climbing, ATV Racing, and Road Racing. AMA District 14 Club Council, Inc., is made up of AMA clubs and promoters in the lower peninsula of Michigan and a small Eastern corner of the Upper Peninsula.
The headlining Winner of the weekend was AMA Pro Flat Track star, Henry Wiles from near-by Blanchard, Michigan who swept the weekend in the premier division within AMA District 14, the Combo Class as he dominated on Friday Night before holding off a hard-charging Kyle Johnson to score the thrilling victory on Saturday night.
As for the rest of the results from each night, on Friday, June 8th, the Feature Winners were: 451cc Open Single & Veterans 30+-Rick Hitchcock; Seniors 40+ & Super Seniors 50+-Jack Mayer; Vintage 401cc+ Open Winner-Simon Kelly; 52-65cc 6-11 Years Older-Gage Beland; 401-505cc B-Morgan Nottingham; 401-505cc A-Koda Ronald; 66-85cc 6-11 Years Old-Calob Blain; Vintage 0-400cc-Mike Putnam; 0-51cc-Bretton Overfield; 0-51cc 4-8 Years Old-Noah Brinker; 251-450cc Open-Jordan Hitchcock; 201-250cc Open-Parker Norris; and 251cc+ Open Twin-Jeff Bullington.
For Saturday, June 9th, Multi-Time Feature Winners for the night were; 251-450cc Open & 401-505cc A-Kyle Johnson; while repeating in two divisions on both days was Veterans 30+ & 451cc Open Single-Rick Hitchcock; Seniors 40+ & Super Seniors 50+-Jack Mayer; 52-65cc 6-11 Years Old-Gage Beland; 66-85cc 6-11 Years Old-Calob Blain;
Other repeat winners who swept the weekend in their respective divisions were; 0-51cc 4-8 Years Old-Noah Brinker, 0-51cc Multi-Speed-Bretton Overfield; 201-250cc Open-Parker Norris; 401-505cc B-Morgan Nottingham; and 251cc+ Open Twin-Jeff Bullington. First time Feature Winners over the Weekend on Saturday Night were; Vintage 401cc+ Open-Eric Kolenda; and Vintage 0-400cc-John Tejchma. Calob Blain and Kyle Johnson won the Special Buddy Race to wrap up the weekend.
The traveling professional riders of the AMA Pro All-Stars Flat Track Motorcycles Series will be at I-96 Speedway on Saturday, July 14th as the best expert and professional riders from all over North America will invade West Michigan. The AMA D14 Riders will kick off that weekend the night before on Friday, July 13th and also end the weekend on Sunday, July 15th (Make-Up date from the May 12th rainout), Saturday, July 21st during Motorcycle Mayhem Weekend; and Friday-Saturday, August 17-18th.
The 2012 season is the 37th year of sanctioning racing/road riding events for the AMA District 14 organization which is governed by a Board that includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Division Chairs, and AMA Congress Representatives. Membership ranges from 2,000-4,000 riders and is the longest running Michigan Motorcycle Association in the state. This coming weekend, Friday-Saturday, June 15-16th is “Who’s Your Daddy” Weekend at the track as Friday, June 15th will kick off the Father’s Day Weekend with the first Official Motocross event at I-96 Speedway! The only Stadium-Type course in the state of Michigan! Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Sunday for the rest of the season, there will be Open Practice on the Motocross track so there will be plenty of opportunity to get acclimated to the new track before the first Official event on Friday, June 15th.

Upcoming events to wrap up the month of June includes the annual appearance by the UMP Summer National Hell Tour on a special Sunday, June 24th as some of the best UMP Super Late Model Teams in North America will invade Lake Odessa, Michigan to take on the tracks Miller Lite UMP Super Late Models. They’ll be joined by their companion touring series, the Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds Nationals as the best Mod drivers in the country will go head to head with the tracks Accurate Engines UMP Modifieds.
AS AN ADDED BONUS: The Rained Out Accurate Engines UMP Modifieds Feature from June 2nd will be made up on this night and will be the first race of the Evening at 6:00p.m. From there, the events of the day will roll into the regularly scheduled Complete Show. Both series’ will be joined by the tracks weekly divisions of Rudd’s Septic Service UMP Street Stocks and Smyrna Bar & Restaurant UMP Sport Compacts.
