(Note: From 2009-2011, the Rulebook will not change)   For this class we have added specified requirements for the claim rule.  They are as follows:

Claim rule for I-96 speedway UMP Sport Compacts (4-cylinder) division

Requirements to claim a car at I-96 Speedway:

  1. The Driver making the claim has to have raced at I-96 Speedway for at least 3 nights in the current season and be a UMP member and have paid their registration at the track and to UMP.
  2. The person making the claim must be a DRIVER that finished in the top 5 of the feature.
  3. Only the winner of the feature race is eligible to be claimed.
  4. The Driver making the claim must stop in front of the flag stand, after the race is completed, before leaving the track, to let the flag man know that they would like to make a claim.  Once the Driver that wants to claim leaves the track no claim is allowed to be made.
  5. The Driver making the claim must have CASH (no other payment will be accepted) in their pocket or in hand at the flag stand when they request a claim.

Stipulations of the Claim:

  1. Upon claiming a car, The Driver Claiming must provide $1000 cash, as well as the trade of their race car to the driver that is being claimed.    If the Driver making the claim does not want to trade their car, then they must pay a total of $1550.00 They do have the right to keep their seatbelts and their seat.
  2. The Driver of the claimed car has the right to keep their driver’s seat and their seat belts.
  3. Both the Car being claimed and the car being driven by the Driver that is claiming are ABSOLUTELY not allowed to return to their pits until the matter is resolved.
  4. Directly after the winner leaves the Winner’s Circle they will be escorted to the Tech inspection area by a track official to remove their seat and their seat belts if they agree to the claim.
  5. Upon making a claim the Driver will also bring their car to the tech area to remove their seat belts and seat if they chose to do so.
  6. A tech inspector or track official will remain present to make sure nothing other than seats and seat belts are removed from either car.
  7. Upon obtaining a claimed car, the new owner agrees to remove any and all sponsor logos and names prior to racing this car at any event at any facility.  This will be enforced by the MSPA.

Rights of the Driver Being Claimed:

  1. The Driver being claimed does have the right to refuse the claim.
  2. If the driver does refuse the claim they agree that they WILL NOT receive the points or their winnings for that event.   They will have to start at the tail for the next 3 races (not including rain outs) at I-96 speedway.

GENERAL RULES FOR ALL CLASSES AND PEOPLE IN THE PIT AREA

The rules set herein are designated to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for events. These rules shall govern the conduct, and the conditions of all race track events. By participating in these events all drivers are deemed to have complied with these rules.

IN ORDER FOR WINNERS TO BE PAID, AFTER GOING THROUGH TECH, THE CAR AND DRIVER MUST REPORT TO THE VICTORY LANE BEHIND THE GRANDSTAND TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS AND GET PICTURES TAKEN FOR A MINIMUM OF 15 MINUTES

1. All cars that line up for the A-Main may be required to take an alcohol test if there is reason to believe they have been drinking been drinking after entering the pit area.

2. SPIN RULE: ONLY ONE SPIN IS ALLOWED IN HEATS OR FEATURES.  UPON THE SECOND SPIN YOU WILL BE SENT TO THE PITS.  ANY CAR THAT STOPS MOTION ON THE RACE TRACK FOR REASONS OTHER THAN A SAFETY CONCERN, WILL BE SENT TO THE TAIL!  IF IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, YOU MUST STOP DIRECTLY AT THE FLAG STAND AND LET TRACK CREW KNOW.

3. LINE UP ON BACK ROAD: If someone drops out of the race, the row will move up, not criss-cross. If a car is late lining up and the lineup is set, that car will go to the rear.

4. ANYONE WHO STOPS ON THE TRACK OR IN THE LINE UP AREA TO DISPUTE A CALL OR LINE-UP MAY BE PARKED FOR THE BALANCE OF THE EVENING.

5. ANYONE RACING THRU THE PITS, MAY BE PARKED FOR THE BALANCE OF THE NIGHT AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TECH OFFICIALS

6. DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR PIT CREW. No open alcoholic beverages in the pits until ALL races are completed. NO FIGHTING. NO ILLEGAL DRUGS.

7. NO SMOKING AROUND THE FUEL TANK AREA: $100 fine WILL be assessed to violators.

8. TAX INFORMATION/REGISTRATION: All drivers must register. A $50 fee will be charged for each class. If the fee is not paid by your third night of racing at I-96 Speedway, it will be taken out of the payoff for that car. No driver is considered registered until fee is paid. Drivers will be responsible for making sure that all tax information is correct. A fee of $50 may be charged for any 1099 that requires changes due to driver/owner negligence. Any questions regarding tax information can be changed at the pit booth most race nights.

9. ANY DRIVER DISQUALIFIED will receive NO POINTS AND NO MONEY for the night.

10. All drivers should be in the pits or call into the track by 6:00 p.m. Those who arrive at the track after 6:00 p.m. will start in the tail of a heat race.

11. RESTARTS: All lapped cars will restart in the position which they were scored in the last completed lap.

12. NUMBERS: All cars must have numbers legible to the scorers, in contrasting color from the car. Numbers should be on both doors. Roof numbers are recommended. All cars must have the drivers name somewhere visible on the car. Minimum height is 18 inches tall with a 4 inch stroke.

13. NO RADIOS allowed in any class.

An operational fire extinguisher with gauge MINIMUM 2 ½ LBS is mandatory in each race car and in each tow vehicle. Also mandatory: Extinguisher gauge must be visible for inspection purposes, and must be mounted with a quick release bracket.

Duct tape is not acceptable as a mounting device.Fire suit, approved helmet, unaltered neck restraint, Nomex gloves, window net (bolted on the bottom with a good safe fastener on top), a five (5) point seat belt, and a removable steering wheel are mandatory. Seat belts MUST fasten to the cage and MUST be 3 year old or newer. There must be a complete roll cage, subject to inspection.

Must have halo bar, drivers head with helmet, must not rise above the roll bars. Mandatory – must have a 1/8 inch steel or ¼ inch aluminum plate for driver’s door.

Track officials will make the final decision as to whether the car is legal and/or safe!!! Officials’ decisions will be final.

SAFETY:

No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules. They are intended as a guide for conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participant, spectators or others.

Any driver, car owner, or mechanic who takes part in any demonstration or fight on the track, in the pit area, or on the surrounding premises, before, during or after the races shall be subject to suspension and a $100 fine. Until the suspension is lifted, and the fine is paid, no car or driver will be permitted to compete if associated with the suspended person or persons (NOTE: Abuse, assault, or threat to do bodily injury to any track official or persons serving under his/her orders, by any driver, car owner, crew or mechanic shall be grounds for suspension). A suspension from any MSPA track will also be reported to and honored at all MSPA tracks.
